August 25th, 2006Q: I’m not a mother. Can I submit an essay?
A: Short answer: yes. Long answer: If thinking about motherhood has affected your career or career-planning, yes. If you’re trying to schedule becoming a mother around qualifying exams, job interviews, tenure review, yes (and good luck!) Adoptive moms, non-biological moms, step-moms, by all means, yes.
Q: I’m not a Ph.D. Can I submit an essay?
A: Yes! If you’re in the process of getting an advanced degree, be it MA, MS, M.Div, M. Phil, Ph.D., we want to hear from you. If you quit graduate school to start a family and are trying to figure out if you’re going back, we’re interested in your story. If you’re applying to graduate school, adjuncting, teaching in community college or a tenure-track job, or at any other stage of an academic career, we want to hear about it.
Q: Who’s your publisher?
A: None yet. We’ve had some queries, but we haven’t actually sent the proposal out yet. We’ll keep the site updated with news.
Q: Are you compensating contributors?
A: We hope so!
